Munich police closed streets in the vicinity of the Welt as a precautionary measure but it was quickly determined that the incident was limited to an area not accessible by the public so visitors to the Welt were not directly impacted by the incident.

The basement area was aired out and the exact cause of the accident remains under investigation.
