This is by far the best explanation , and I am a 26 year BMW driver and recently added Client advisor for BMw's to my career. Hope you do not mind if I incorporate this document to educate my clients. Thank You

Can I ask you guys something ? Is it Flir's PathfindIR that is used at our BMW's ..... If it's the same thing, why is it cheaper to get it from BMW rather than the Flir itself ? If it's not the same thing can you guys tell me which is better ? Thanks DC

I have a 2006 X3. Last year I bought a Treo 680, paired it with my X# and had many months of trouble free service. One day my X3 had a dead battery. I took it to Sonnen BMW in San Rafael, CA and I was told that my Treo 680 was not compatible with the bluetooth module in my X3 and a result is caused it to stay on and drain the battery after the car had been tuned off. I find this hard to believe but it scared me sufficiently to stop using it. Is this really possible? REPLY FROM JONATHAN SPIRA: The X3 has an older telecommunications/Bluetooth module (compared to the rest of BMW´s lineup. With the newer module, I would say this is unlikely but in your case I would at least say it warrants further investigating. Did the dealership, for example, know you were using an incompatible mobile before they "found" the cause? How did they document this (if the TCU did indeed stay on and does not stay on now, given the fact that you discontinued the use of the 680, that might actually prove their point). On the other hand, if it only happened once, one might also chalk it up to coincidence. In all of the posts and comments I´ve seen/received about Bluetooth in BMWs, I have never had anyone advise that the use of a particular phone caused the module to stay awake and drain the battery. Indeed, the module could be defective. The acid test: use a different mobile for a month or so and see if the module stays awake.

Centro rating by author: 1 out of 10 (above rating is for Bluetooth compatibility; aside from its incompatibilities, it's a very nice phone if you don't have to connect it to your BMW)

I love this system, I had been searching high and low for something that would give me just that; the highs and lows of music. I discovered (like many others) that BMW chose some odd sizes for their speakers, especially the mid-bass. I was originally going to but speakers seperate from many different places and make my own system. I found BSW though and they had an entire package with direction, staff for help (very knowledgeable I might add), and a guarantee. I needed new speakers and the sun had destroyed my 13 year old factory speakers. So I bought the stage 1 upgrade. All I can say is WOW! I was missing out. The quality is amazing on these, the highs, the lows, and everything inbewteen came alive! The install was quite easy as well (I am a big DIYer). they have videos on YouTube to guide you along and you can call the staff and they can help you too. The system uses the factory amp (Non HK in my case) and factory locations, wire, etc. The speakers are upgraded and come with everyting thing to install except the tools (they sell those too). It was all plug-n-play for me and I got to repair my sagging doors that were falling apart in the process (I used hot-glue, next time I will use epoxy). The system sounds great with anything hooked up from a cd stereo, my zune, or my newly installed Car PC infotainment system (I will post a review for that soon). I still go out to the car for the shear enjoyment of the sound... and to burn some rubber :-) I would definetly recommend this to any E36 owner, or any BMW owner for that matter! I was worth every penny!
